Top 10 Wrestlers

I love Pro Wrestling and I've been a fan since 2004, and since I've been thinking about it for a bit I figure I'd make a list of my favorite wrestlers who've entered the square circle.

10. Edge

The Ultimate Opportunist, the Rated R Suuuuuuuuuuuperstar (Shoutout to Tony Chimel for his announcing), oh man I hated Edge when I was a teen, Edge was everything you wanted in a heel, a backstabbing bastard that could back up his words, Edge has done it all. He was a key part in making tag teams legendary in the 2000s, but it was his rise to the top that truly cemented his place in WWE. I'll never forget New Years Revolution 2006 and hearing how Edge cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to win the WWE Championship, the man was enemy number one in my eyes and did a damn good job with it.

9. Rey Mysterio

The high flyer, and the man who deserved way better championship reigns, looking at you 2006 and 2011. Rey was always an instant favorite from the first moment I saw him, there was rarely a time I was bored watching the high flyer, and I enjoyed watching him go against the big guys. But despite so much crap thrown at him Mysterio's made his mark in WWE, winning the 2006 Royal Rumble in legendary fashion and then winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 22. Whatever WWE has done with Rey, it cannot be denied how important he is to the company and to future stars that come after him.

8. Batista

If you only know Batista from the Guardian of the Galaxy movies, I can understand if you didn't know he was one of the best rising Stars in WWE in the 00s. Batista had one of greatest organically built rises to the top I've ever seen, starting in Evolution with Randy Orton and learning from one of the all time greatest in Ric Flair and Triple H, winning the 2005 Royal Rumble, and that legendary Raw segment with him powerbombing The Game with him eventually taking the title at WrestleMania 21, Batista was a bonefied superstar. It doesn't hurt that he looked fantastic with the World Heavyweight Championship on him, few wrestlers can pull that off. Nowadays he's a Hollywood star, and a good one at that, but never forget how dominant he was as one of WWE's top stars.

7. Triple H

One of the more controversial superstars, but you can't deny how impactful The Game has been to the business. I think your opinion of Triple H depends on what version of him you watched, from DX to his rise as a top, to his infamous Reign of Terror which turned off a lot of people. But despite his infamous burying of some stars, The Game has had so many iconic moments and matches, his feud with The Rock with the Iron Man match and Backlash 2000, his matches with Mick Foley cementing him as a top star, not to mention an absolutely legendary rivalry with Shawn Michaels which gave both some of the best matches in both men's careers. Also he's one of the funniest wrestlers who's really good at comedy, I don't care what anyone says, his moments with DX reuniting in 2006 are some of the best comedy moments Triple H has done.

6. Macho Man Randy Savage

OH YEAH! There are few wrestlers with as much charisma and intensity as the Macho Man Randy Savage. When you think about the Golden Age of WWE in the 80s, Randy Savage is one the first names to be brought up, and for good reason as he gave us the first great WrestleMania match against Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat at WrestleMania 3. The Macho Man could do it all, great work in the ring, a great babyface, and a great heel, he really was born to wrestle. And we can't talk about the Macho Man without talking about his legendary promos, which are honestly a lost art in Pro Wrestling nowadays. The Cream of the Crop promo, Cup of Coffee promo, The Boiling Point promo, and so many other iconic promos that are instantly rewatchable. And of course, the Mega Powers forming and exploding, probably the best long term storyline of the 80s, just fantastic storytelling that's a lost art in WWE today.

5. The Undertaker

Easily the greatest character in Pro Wrestling, The Undertaker was a constant dominant force in WWE for 30 years. The Deadman has a legendary list of opponents that have fallen to him, from Hulk Hogan to Ric Flair to Triple H, The Phenom and done it all. He's one of the few characters that really didn't need titles to showcase his dominance, but he still has claimed the WWE and World Heavyweight Championship a handful of times. And of course, we can't talk about 'Taker without mentioning The Streak. The Streak became such a legendary milestone at WrestleMania that people would get excited to see who'd step up to take on the Deadman at the Showcase of the Immortals, all before Brock Lesnar finally became the one in 21-1, but this gave The Undertaker yet another legendary status to an already lengthy Hall of Fame career.

4. The Rock

THE greatest trash talker in Pro Wrestling? 100%, there has never been anyone before or after that is better on the mic than The Great One. He destroyed Billy Gunn's push with a single promo, and is easily the funniest superstar I've ever seen. It's no wonder why 2000 was the year of The Rock, few wrestlers had an entire year that was considered their peak, and it's definitely no wonder the most electrifying man in sports entertainment went to Hollywood due to how charming and charismatic he is. For crying out loud, he is the reason why SmackDown exists due to one of his catchphrases. He was so over that when he was a heel and tried to kill Stone Cold people went nuts over it, he simply couldn't stay a heel when people went ballistic for him. Iconic and quotable, The Rock helped make WWE a global phenomenon and all his haters will know their roles and shut their mouths.

3. Stone Cold Steve Austin

There is no one, NO ONE, that has made WWE more money and sent the company into the stratosphere like the Texas Rattlesnake. What is there to say about Stone Cold that hasn't been said? The greatest superstar in the history of the company, the flagship character in WWE's greatest period in the Attitude Era, there's not a single star back then or since that's had such a meteoric rise to the top. Even now, when you hear that glass break, the crowd goes deafening and asses will be kicked, beer will be thrown, middle fingers will be flipped, and everyone's getting Stone Cold stunned. The ultimate Anti-Authority character, Stone Cold Steve Austin was the ultimate fantasy of kicking your boss's ass and looking like the biggest badass in the world while doing it. And that's the bottom line, 'cause Stone Cold said so!

2. Shawn Michaels

The greatest in ring performer in WWE, The Heartbreak Kid's legacy is one that cannot be replicated. The moment his former partner Marty Jannetty jumped through the window in an act of cowardism in the now iconic promo, Shawn Michaels had one of the greatest careers in the history of Pro Wrestling, showcasing why he was the best in the ring. Of course we know about his infamous backstage antics, the formation of DX, the Montreal Screwjob and his match in 1998 with The Undertaker which broke his back and left him out of the ring for four years. In that time HBK found God and returned in 2002, and in my opinion, his second run truly cemented his Hall of Fame career and was better than his first, and that's saying something considering how good his first run was. He's earned the nickname Mr. WrestleMania, because no one outperforms The Showstopper on the Grandest Stage of them All. He's done it all, he's seen it all, and any wrestling fans should watch him to see why he's been so influential to the WWE.

1. John Cena

I remember it as clear as day in 2004, I was channel surfing when I see John Cena as the Doctor of Thuganomics on the screen, and I've been watching wrestling ever since. Cena is the reason why I watch Pro Wrestling today, the introduction of WWE and wrestling was unlike anything I had seen at the time. Last year Cena retired after 20 years in the WWE, so it's fitting that I get nostalgic over his career. His Judgement Day 2005 I Quit Match, WrestleMania 22, One Night Stand 2006, his TLC Match against Edge, his 3rd Championship reign, which in my opinion is still his greatest run with the WWE Championship because he was truly unstoppable in 2007 in a time when he was certainly needed, I could go on with so many great matches under his belt. Not to mention his crazy return at Royal Rumble 2008, returning months before he was supposed to, which became the gold standard of Royal Rumble returns. And like The Rock before him, Hollywood came calling and has become a megastar, but Cena's heart and soul will always be in Pro Wrestling.
